Evan Frears was stunned on Days of our Lives when his father, Orpheus — just one name, how cool is that? — told Evan he’d fathered Jan Spears’s baby boy. Evan stammered that he didn’t know how that could have happened — he and Jan had only been together one time. Orpheus’s eyes rolled so far back in his head at that one.

DAYS fans were stunned, too. For months, Jan (Heather Lindell) had been insisting — more like shrieking — that the baby was Shawn Brady’s (Brandon Beemer). She insisted she’d had a paternity test run, and Shawn shrugged and said, “OK, I believe you.”
He then proceeded to give in to every single one of Jan’s whims, which included getting her released from jail — because jail is stressful, apparently. Though only for Jan, all the other women can stay there and rot — moving her into the house he shared with wife Belle Black Brady (Martha Madison) and telling Belle to basically suck it up.

Feeling empowered by how well she has Shawn wrapped around her swollen, pregnant finger, Jan clung to him tearfully when she went into premature labor, and even named their newborn after his daddy — Shawn Brady.

Jan also said she wanted her baby to have the most Christian middle name possible. Because he’d been conceived, you know, thanks to the Devil. And what’s a more Christian name than Christian? She’s a sharp one, our Jan!
Fans thought they were getting an inside joke. Actor Shawn Christian played Daniel, the father of Nicole Walker’s (Arianne Zucker) daughter, Holly (and Zucker’s real-life love). But most didn’t think beyond that.

But there was a clue hiding there in plain sight. Jan named her son Shawn Christian…after his father. And who is little Shawn’s real daddy? Why, none other than Evan, whose birth name is…Christian. Well played, Days of our Lives. Very, very well played!
