Kristen’s Destroyed, But There’s One Way Days of our Lives Can Save Her

Kristen DiMera had been on the Days of our Lives redemption train — serving time for stabbing Victor, repentant over her past transgressions, and determined to be a better woman now that she’s a mother and in a relationship with her true love, Brady.

Days of our Lives Commentary

But that train was derailed when Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) switched places with Susan, snuck out of prison, and began an inexplicable new reign of terror. In the process, the character and her once hopeful future have been destroyed, but there is one way the soap can save her.

Forgive and Forget?

Let’s face it, the citizens of Salem, Brady (Eric Martsolf) included, aren’t going to simply forgive and forget Kristen’s latest crimes. She’s been downright hostile to Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) and took things a wicked step further with Sarah (Linsey Godfrey), taking her hostage after Sarah discovered she was masquerading as Susan. Then she drugged her, put her in a crate, and shipped her away.

Kristen followed that up by knocking out Kate (Lauren Koslow), who realized she was pretending to be Susan, too. Determined to keep her mum, she dragged her body through the DiMera tunnels and locked her up in a secret room, so she’d be free to carry out Vivian’s (Linda Dano) orders to break up Kate and Jake (Brandon Barash).

A Justifiable Reason Why

What would be a way to make Kristen’s plots against these three Salem ladies understandable, let alone justifiable? The soap’s going to have to go the medical route, and a good script to follow would be what General Hospital did with Franco (Roger Howarth).

The guy used to be a cold-hearted killer. Then he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and miraculously treated. When he awoke from surgery, he was kinder and gentler. His penchant for evildoing had been permanently erased from his mind.
Brady would surely stand by Kristen’s side, if he realized she wasn’t in control of her latest actions; that her awful scheming and plotting was a result of her injured brain. And so, no doubt, would the DiMera family.

It’s a wild, out-there way to bring Kristen back from the dark side, and, frankly, the only hope the character has of being saved after her latest acts of violence. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
