The fallout of Stephanie nearly shooting Joy on Days of our Lives goes far beyond Stephanie’s mental health. Joy gave Alex an ultimatum about Kelsey and Stephanie, under the premise of fear for her daughter. That may not be the whole story.

Key Takeaways

  • Alex is caught between Stephanie and his daughter.
  • Joy’s ultimatum will greatly impact his marriage.
  • Is Joy’s concern about safety, or is it bigger than that?

Joy Caused Alex’s Life To Get A Whole Lot More Complicated

Understandably, Joy (AlexAnn Hopkins) remains freaked out over Stephanie (Abigail Klein) nearly shooting her. Things could have been much worse for Joy. However, everyone seems focused solely on Stephanie, not her, especially Alex (Robert Scott Wilson).

Joy was rightfully annoyed when he didn’t come to check on her out of concern but to see if she planned to press charges against Stephanie. Instead of letting things drag out, Joy gave Alex a choice that cost him, no matter what he decided.

Alex agreed to keep Stephanie away from Kelsey (Lena and Mira Chase) in exchange for Joy not pressing charges against his wife. Joy’s ultimatum was perceived as about safety and concern for their daughter. It makes sense considering what Joy went through.

What Is Joy Really Up To?

Then again, this is Joy, and scheming to get her way is not above her at all. She left town after lying to Alex that she wasn’t pregnant and only returned at Jeremy’s (Michael Roark) urging. Jeremy had his own agenda, and Joy played right into it. Now that she’s in town, though, Joy has a new bond with Alex because of Kelsey.

It’s possible that Joy used the situation with Stephanie to turn Alex’s life upside down for her own gain. After all, Stephanie and Alex were having issues before Joy came to town.

Joy knows that Stephanie isn’t thrilled that Kelsey is Alex’s daughter. She could be using the shooting to drive a wedge between Alex and Stephanie.

Alex being forced to keep Stephanie out of Kelsey’s life means more time for Joy to spend alone with Alex and their daughter. It creates a family unit that they both want in different ways.

Alex wants a family with Stephanie, and she’s not ready. That could be to Joy’s benefit. The more she and Alex bond with their daughter, the more he experiences family life.

The shooting certainly played a part in Joy’s ultimatum, but we aren’t convinced she did it solely for safety reasons. Something tells us this is just a small twist in a bigger storyline for Alex, Stephanie, and Joy.
