Soap Hub broke the news last week that Jordi Vilasuso is out as Dario on Days of Our Lives (DOOL). Now the actor has finally spoken out about his exit.
Vilasuso took to Instagram to share his feelings about leaving the show and what the experience meant to him (see below).
His departure wasn’t a total shock considering how the writing has been for Dario lately, leaning more towards the dark side as he trapped Abigail (Marci Miller) into a marriage under the guise of keeping him safe from being deported to Mexico.
He was so desperately in love with her that he didn’t care what her feelings were. In fact, he knew she was still in love with Chad (Billy Flynn), who is now involved with Dario’s sister, Gabi (Camila Banus).
The actor spoke with Soap Hub briefly about the challenge of playing this side of Dario.
“To be perfectly honest, it’s been difficult. It’s been a difficult storyline to wrap my head around, because here’s this guy who’s going after this woman who is married, right, and he’s lying to her. So these are all things that I’m like, ‘How am I justifying it?’
“And the only way I could really justify it is that he’s really in love with this girl and that he knows he can provide for her better than her husband.”
But, that explanation is still too much for fans to accept as they long to have their favorite couple back together. So, it isn’t overly shocking that Dario has been shown the door.
In the meantime, read the actor’s parting words of gratitude from Instagram and watch more from our interview with Vilasuso.
