Days of Our Lives star James Reynolds plays one of the most admired men in Salem — the town’s very own mayor, Abe Carver. In real life, the actor is also greatly admired for many reasons, including his time proudly serving his country as a marine.
The actor and his wife, Lissa, were recently in Washington, D.C., and besides seeing the famous Cherry Blossoms in bloom, they visited the Vietnam Memorial. This was very important to the couple, but especially the actor himself, considering he joined the Marines fresh out of high school.
After participating in boot camp, Reynolds worked for the Information Service Office and became a reporter for the service newspaper, The Windward Marine.
He was eventually sent to Vietnam where he served for almost a year with several units in and around Chu Lai — adding reporting at the battlefield among his combat duties.
Reynolds and Lissa recently shared a very moving image in front of the Vietnam Memorial — the wall of names of everyone who gave their lives in that war.
“Every time we go to Washington DC we visit [the] Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. As Jim is a Vietnam Vet it is always emotional. When I took this pic of the wall our reflection was in the polished wall,” they said on Instagram.
