With Andre dead and buried, the timing is right for Days of Our Lives (DOOL) to resurrect his lookalike cousin, Tony.
When viewers last saw Count Antony, he was taking his last breath at Salem University Hospital in 2009. His accidental death occurred following a fight with Philip on the pier. As Tony was leaving, he lost his footing and fell over a railing and onto a sharp plank, which proved lethal.
Or so it seemed… What if it was all a ruse orchestrated by Andre to rid himself of his pesky “twin?”
With both Stefano and Andre gone, the DiMera family is in dire need of a veteran male presence. Tony could triumphantly return home and explain his death had once again been faked and that he’d been held captive by Andre’s minions. However, he was promptly released after his demise.
The honorable Tony could work to regain order in the house of DiMera and the family business — and attempt to broker some sort of peace pact between Chad (Billy Flynn) and Stefan (Tyler Christopher).
Actor Thaao Penghlis has long been a fan favorite, and those fans were shocked and disappointed to see him killed off –yet again.
With actor Joseph Mascolo (ex-Stefano) gone, Penghlis is the last tie to the original DiMera family that debuted on the show back in the early 1980s. That tie resonates with longtime viewers and should be embraced, not tossed aside.
Tony and Anna
The best part of Tony’s return would mean a revival of the great Tony and Anna (Leann Hunley) love story and relationship. Anna has been beside herself since Tony’s demise. His resurrection would bring her joy and peace.
The supercouple could be reunited and move into the DiMera mansion, where they could mix things up on a daily basis with the rest of the family. It would add an even more intriguing facet to the already complicated full house.
Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for air times.
