On the July 22 episode of Days of our Lives, Salem wondered where Gwen had gone, as Kayla, Leo, and Cat attempted to reach her. Everyone assumes EJ is responsible. But we’re wondering if the plot is more clever than that?
Key Takeaways
- Salem assumes EJ is behind Gwen’s disappearance, but the obvious answer may be a misdirect.
- A new theory ties Gwen to Kristen and Lexie’s identity-switch plan, potentially solving its biggest flaw.
- Could Gwen become the key to Kristen’s escape? The clues point to a darker possibility.
The Obvious Answer May Be the Wrong One
Gwen (Emily O’Brien) was going about her business when she was snatched from behind and subdued. She was in the process of buying Salem University Hospital from EJ (Dan Feuerriegel), so her disappearance would seem connected to someone stopping her.
Kayla (Mary Beth Evans), Leo (Greg Rikaart), and Cat (AnnaLynne McCord) certainly assume that, if Gwen is truly gone, then EJ is behind it. The audience is supposed to think so, too. But we like to think we’re two steps ahead of them. Just like Kristen (Stacy Haiduk, who’s nominated for a Daytime Emmy).
Gwen May Be the Final Piece of Kristen’s Switch-y Plan
Earlier this week, Kristen floated a brilliant plan to Lexie (Nikki Crawford): They’ll switch places! Lexie will let EJ’s people kidnap her so that she can go away and die in private, while Kristen will take off scot-free and disappear. There are many, many — so many — flaws to this plan, we needed a whole other post to list them all.
But what if Gwen is the third prong? What if Lexie is to stand in for Kristen, but, as soon as EJ figures it out — which shouldn’t be that hard, considering the two look nothing alike — they’ll need to produce a third body to demonstrate that Kristen is good and dead, so there is no point in his looking for her? And what if that third body is Gwen’s?
Lexie and Kristen may not look alike while alive. But is it possible to make Kristen and Gwen look alike… dead?
