On the July 21 episode of Days of our Lives, Kristen laid out her personally reasonable, rational, foolproof plan: She and Lexie will switch places, and live happily ever after. Well, Kristen will, anyway. Lexie is about to be dead — again. Lexie finally agreed to Kristen’s criss-cross. And yet we still see a big problem with their scheme. One they seem determined not to face.
Key Takeaways
- Kristen and Lexie agree to a shocking identity-switch plan, partly to spare Lexie the prospect of her final days.
- Kristen believes swapping places will outsmart EJ, allowing her to escape while Lexie takes her place.
- The scheme has one glaring flaw: Kristen and Lexie don’t look alike, raising major questions about how this could possibly work.
Kristen and Lexie’s Plan Starts to Take Shape
Now that Lexie (Nikki Crawford) knows she is destined for the grave— for realz, this time — she wants to spare Abe (James Reynolds) and Theo (Tyler Joseph Andrews) the pain of losing her again. She thinks it will be much more merciful if she just… disappears.
Yes, because not knowing is so much more pleasant than knowing. Nobody likes certainty. Everybody loves permanently wondering. Lexie wants to die alone. Kristen (Stacy Haiduk, who’s nominated for a 2026 Daytime Emmy) knows how Lexie can accomplish this.
The Details Involve A Lot of Switching and Disappearing
Kristen now realized she might have gone too far by manipulating Sophia (Rachel Boyd) into trying to kill Johnny (Carson Boatman). EJ (Dan Fuerriegel) will not allow that to go unpunished. He is planning to have Kristen kidnapped and held forever at the DiMera compound.
But Kristen has a brilliant plan! Lexie will step in for Kristen! She’ll be the one kidnapped, and then she will die in luxury at the DiMera high-end prison. In the meantime, Kristen will go on the run. EJ will never find her, since he won’t be looking for her.
Obviously, There‘s a Flaw With Said Plan
We hate to be party-poopers, but there seems to be a teeny, tiny gaping hole in this brilliant plot: LEXIE AND KRISTEN ARE NOT THE SAME PERSON. They may be sisters, but they do not look alike. (Kristen is adopted, so no surprise there.) EJ knows which one is which. Presumably, EJ will check in on this captive once in a while.
He might even have cameras set up to watch. He will see that Lexie is not Kristen. And when Lexie dies, he will likely have her buried. Might he sneak a peek at the body?
And we’re not even talking about how Stefano’s (Joseph Mascolo) staff might know which of his daughters is which. What is this plan? And what are we missing that Kristen and Lexie have figured out ahead of us?
