Did you know that one of these “Days of Our Lives” stars (Thaao Penghlis, James Reynolds, and Stephen Nichols) was a Combat Field Reporter in the Marines during the Vietnam War? The three actors mentioned above are your choices. Do you think you know which star it is? If not, read on to find out the answer.
First, we have Thaao Penghlis (Andre). This talented actor was born in Surry Hills, New South Wales in Australia. He is of Greek parentage and was not involved in the Vietnam War. Penghlis’ first North American soap opera role was in 1981. He portrayed Victor Cassadine on “General Hospital”.
Second, we have James Reynolds. This dramatic actor created the role of Abe Carver on DOOL in 1981. However, before switching to acting, Reynolds joined the Marines and served in Vietnam during the war. He became a battlefield reporter for “The Windward Marine.” Yes, it’s Mr. Reynolds who experienced combat in the field.
Finally, we have Stephen Nichols. Despite his rough and tumble character, Nichols actually lived a very peace-loving existence in his younger years. He studied yoga and was a monk for a time. He even won an art scholarship to Ohio State University, but he turned that down. Isn’t that interesting?
