The Green-Eyed Monster: How Annoying Is Claire’s Jealousy on Days Of Our Lives?

Claire hasn’t been the picture of stability from the first day she popped up on Days of Our Lives. (We’re not counting the cute, brown-haired tiny Claire who bonded with Robo-John, we mean the kewpie-eyed blonde teen.)

She lied, she cheated, she schemed and, oh, yeah, she set her niece Ciara (Victoria Konefal) on fire while the girl was unconscious in a cabin bed!

Claire is…not well. She says now she did it because she was so jealous of Ciara. How Ciara always gets the guys. Theo (Kyler Pettis). Tripp (Lucas Adams). Has she gone too far? What over 11,000 regular viewers had to say about that:

YES, a whopping 97% of you are screaming at the TV — and at us. Oh, my God, could she BE any more pathetic (hat-tip: Chandler from Friends)? Why does this girl who pretty much had every advantage in life constantly believe everyone is plotting against her?

Honestly, nobody cares enough to plot against her. Sure, she’s pretty, sure, she can sing, but, also, sure, she’s seriously annoying. People want to like her. She’s Shawn (Brandon Beemer) and Belle’s (Martha Madison) daughter!

She’s Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and Bo’s (Peter Reckell) and Marlena (Deidre Hall) and John’s (Drake Hogestyn) granddaughter! She should be Salem’s sweetheart. Instead, Claire (Olivia Rose Keegan) turned out to be Salem’s (jealous) shrew.

Stirring the Pot
Only 3% of the audience finds Claire palatable, and her jealousy a great way to drive the plot. If she was all sweetness and light, nothing would ever happen, and Ciara wouldn’t continue believing herself to be the hottest of them all.

Ciara needs someone like Claire around to cut her down to size (just, you know, not the size of a charcoal briquet). And we need a bad girl to keep things hopping in Salem!
