Earlier this week Soap Hub reported that Galen Gering looked to be one of the actors let go from Days of our Lives when the show began taping again recently. On Friday, he appeared to say a farewell to the fans and the soap he’s called home since 2008.

The actor took to Twitter to share a video of a goodbye cake, as well as a message to his legions of supporters.
“Thank you for all the support and for being there…I’m at a loss for words, but I hope you know how grateful I am…onto the next chapter.”
Gering wasn’t the first actor reportedly let go from DAYS over the last week, as Casey Moss is also said to be making his exit. All actors were released from their contracts late last year and the show is said to be making various cuts, as well as renegotiating with performers who will be staying.

Rafe has not had much storyline since his breakup with Hope. While he has become a foster dad to little David and plans to adopt him, those plans may be put on hold when courts learn he didn’t vet his nanny very well. Many fans suspect said nanny, named Evan, is actually David’s biological father.
Perhaps Rafe’s most popular pairing was with Alison Sweeney’s Sami. She is back on the DAYS set right now taping scenes so it’s possible Sami’s return has something to do with Rafe’s exit.
As most fans know, DAYS tapes about eight months in advance, so you’ll be seeing Rafe on your Salem screens until at least next fall. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
