A social media post announcing she’s looking for work and showing stills from an audition tape sparked rumors on Friday night that Camila Banus was leaving Days of Our Lives and the role of Gabi behind.
Camila Banus Staying
Well, a quick tweet is putting an end to those rumors today, as Banus makes it clear she is not leaving Salem at all, but just doing what actresses do.
“I have been self taping auditions since 2005…ummm why is everyone having a cow?” Banus tweeted on Saturday, with a gif that looks to show frustration.
On Friday, this is what she shared on both Twitter and Instagram: “Self tape moments. Hey, film and television industry! 🙋♀️ I’m an actor available for work !! #hireme #actorforwork @sagaftra #sagaftra #auditionprocess #selftapes #90shairstyle.”
This prompted responses lamenting her leaving the soap and leaving many fans to believe Gabi would be written off the soap just like her brother, Rafe, played by Galen Gering.
Banus’ Gabi is currently involved in a big story involving Brandon Barash. Her love interest has returned to the soap but claims to be a mechanic named Jake rather than her husband, Stefan O. DiMera. Fans are thrilled to see this pair again, so it’s good news that Gabi seems to be sticking around.

Days of our Lives History
DOOL made its debut in 1965 and is one of the longest-running daytime soap operas in American history. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, five decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.
From Stefano DiMera’s (Joseph Mascolo) evil schemes to Victor Kiriakis’s (John Aniston) one-liners to the epic love story of Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope (Kristian Alfonso), DAYS knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.
Bringing the Drama
It is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), The Young and the Restless (YR), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). DAYS airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for air times.
