Gabi Gone? Camila Banus Lands Primetime Gig!

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) star Camila Banus hinted she was working on a new project in Atlanta last week and now we know what it is.

According to Deadline, Banus has landed a plum new role on the hit FOX show Star, which is headlined by none other than Queen Latifah.

William Levy, from the movie Girls Trip, is also joining the show, according to the website, as “Mateo Ferrera, a driven media mogul who can charm the devil into church. He is rich, successful, smooth as silk and married to his equal, Nina Ferrera,” — played by Banus.

Levy is joining as a regular in this third season of the show. No word on Banus’s status or exactly how many episodes she’s signed on to do. After the new broke, she took to Twitter to say the cat’s out of the bag and asked fans to say hello to Nina.

When just teasing about the new gig, she said this on Instagram:

“This new project got me pretty much living in Atlanta, interesting life to be living out of a hotel, I gotta give it up to all the people that do that for long periods of time…this is me sitting outside my trailer(: living my dream. The show was co-created by Lee Daniels, who also created Empire — FOX’s other huge hit series. Star is about three singers who are running from their pasts and are looking for a fresh start. Of course, they are shooting for stardom but have to deal with the music business which can be a cutthroat one.

The show premieres Wednesday, September 26 at 9 p.m. — though which episode her character makes her debut is unknown at this time.

As far as Gabi is concerned, there’s no word on Banus leaving DAYS so it looks like she’ll be pulling double duty for now.
