Don’t expect to see Stephanie Johnson back on Days of Our Lives (DOOL) anytime soon now that actress Shelley Hennig has found an exciting new role!
Despite her bring briefly mentioned during this crisis with Steve (Stephen Nichols), the actress who brought Stephanie to life will be tackling another “soap” role — but that doesn’t mean daytime drama. It’s actually about the soap you use to get clean.
According to Deadline, she’ll play one of the leads in the ABC pilot False Profits, a comedic soap set in the world of cosmetics marketing. Hennig tackles the role of Hilary Jenkel, who is a sharp-tongued, hot-tempered former beauty queen whose glory days were cut short by a nasty drug habit. She’s also a single mom.
Playing a former beauty queen won’t be much of a stretch for the actress. Hennig won the Miss Teen USA title in 2004.
While Hennig appeared briefly last year Steve and Kayla’s wedding, she’s been quite busy since leaving the show back in 2011. She was a regular on the primetime show Teen Wolf, and appeared in all eight episodes of the Complex Network/Go90 comedy series Liberty Crossing.
Of course, many pilots are made but they don’t all get picked up as a series, so time will tell if the actress is truly unavailable for a Salem return. Do you think it’s time Stephanie to return to her family permanently? Would you accept a recast? Let us know in the comments section.
Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
