7 Things to Know About Rex Brady On Days of Our Lives

Rex Brady is on his way back to Days of Our Lives after 13 long years way from the fold.

The soap’s pulled a major switcheroo with the casting. Kyle Lowder, who originated the adult version of Brady Black, is stepping into the role.

Rex has an unusual past in Salem – from his crash landing into town to his convoluted roots. Here are seven things to know about him.

Tin Man
Rex his debut in tin foil, when he and his twin sister, Cassie (Alexis Thorpe) surfaced in Salem during a meteor shower in 2002. The pair was scantily clad in silver wear and was suspected to be aliens based on their bizarre arrival, odd behavior, and the fact that didn’t speak English.

Eric Winter was the original Rex and played the character from 2002 to 2005. After leaving daytime, the actor quickly found primetime and film success. In fact, he co-starred opposite Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler in the 2009 feature The Ugly Truth.

Ink Master
Known as The Gemini Twins, Rex and his sister originally had matching tattoos that resembled The Phoenix, a symbol associated with Stefano and the DiMera family. Ultimately, the pair had their controversial ink removed when John (Drake Hogestyn) convinced them it would free them of any ties to the controversial crime clan.

The Parent Trap
Initially believed to be the children of Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) and Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall), it was later revealed that Rex and Cassie had no biological ties to either.

Instead, the twins were genetically engineered by Dr. Rolf (Will Utay), who extricated a sperm sample from Roman Brady during his years in captivity by Stefano, and used it to fertilize eggs taken from Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow), a longtime associate of the DiMera kingpin.

Marlena was implanted with those eggs, carried the twins to term, and delivered them.

Smarty Pants
Rex is a bona fide brainiac, who is believed to have super human intelligence. He not only learned, but mastered, the English language in matter of weeks. And, upon enrolling at Salem University, he was at the top of his class.

Prime Suspect
After learning about his true paternity, Rex began behaving strangely. He had frequent headaches, odd mood swings and somewhat violent outbursts.

When Salemites started turning up “murdered,” Rex became a prime suspect. In fact, he was arrested when Maggie Horton’s (Suzanne Rogers) blood was found on his sweatshirt. He was eventually cleared and released.

Daddy Drama
Rex dated Mimi Lockhart (Farah Fath), but the couple broke up when he discovered she was pregnant and aborted their child without telling him. Hurt and betrayed, Rex abruptly left town and Mimi, shortly thereafter.
