You’ve known Suzanne Rogers as beleaguered heroine Maggie on “Days of Our Lives” for decades. Here are Five Fast Facts you may not have known.

A Star is Born
Rogers was born Suzanne Cecilia Crumpler on July 9, 1943, and grew up in Colonial Heights, Virginia. Her admiration of legendary dancer Ginger Rogers inspired her stage name. She was briefly married to actor Sam Groom, who appeared on several soap operas himself.

Just For Kicks
At the age of two, Rogers showed an interest in dancing and began lessons. At 17, she moved to New York to pursue a dancing career. It wasn’t long before she joined the famous Radio City Music Hall Rockettes – the youngest performer they ever had. She also appeared in many Broadway musicals, including “Follies”. You can hear her in the original cast recording.

And the Winner is…
In 1979, Rogers wowed audiences with Maggie’s latest tribulations and won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress. She beat out her co-star, Frances Reid (Alice), Lois Kibbee (Geraldine, “Edge of Night”), as well as Rachel Ames (Audrey) and Susan Brown (Gail) of “General Hospital”. This was not an easy feat for the actress, who has to work harder than most to memorize lines due to dyslexia.

Love Me Do
On DAYS, Rogers had wedding dress say when Maggie married Victor (John Aniston). Rogers wanted it to look like the dress Heather Mills wore for her wedding to Paul McCartney. Let’s hope her marriage to Victor sticks – or at least if they divorce, that it isn’t as bitter! Of course, Heather did make out well…

After appearing on DAYS for a decade, Rogers was forced to leave in 1984 due to her health. A diagnosis of neuro-muscular disease Myasthenia Gravis interfered with her work. When her health improved a year later, she returned to the show and DAYS agreed to write her disease into the show. In remission since 1995, she continues raising money for researching a cure.
