Suzanne Rogers is beloved by soap fans for starring as Maggie Horton on Days of Our Lives, having first stepped foot in Salem back in 1973. The legendary actress has pretty much seen and done it all during her time on the soap — but there is so much more to her.

What’s In A Name?
Rogers was born on July 9 as Suzanne Cecelia Crumpler and raised in Colonial Heights, Virginia. However, she decided to change her stage name to Suzanne Rogers because she was inspired by dancer/actress Ginger Rogers. She wanted to pursue a career in entertainment because of her.

Dancing Queen
Rogers moved to New York City when she was 17 to pursue a dance career. In fact, she became the youngest Rockette ever (at the time) and performed at Radio City Music Hall. She also danced in Broadway musicals, including Follies and Coco. After nearly 10 years in NYC, she decided to move out to California to try her hand at acting.

Record Holder
Rogers got her role as Maggie Horton on Days of Our Lives back in 1973, soon after moving out west. Rogers is the 10th-longest-serving soap actor in the world, as she has been a part of the show for 46 years (give or take a few breaks), and she is also the longest-running castmember on DAYS.

In the Prime
Rogers has also done a number of primetime roles, appearing on shows like Love, American Style, Quincy, Little House on the Prairie, as well as Knight Rider. She also played her DAYS character, Maggie, in the made-for-TV movie that co-star Deidre Hall (Marlena) had made of her life story.

Health Matters
Rogers was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis in 1984, which is a rare muscle disease. It can cause weakness in them and make it difficult to speak. She helped convince the show’s producers to incorporate it into the story for Maggie.
