Mary Beth Evans is not just an actor, she’s a businesswoman, a mother, a wife, and an incredible producer. The actress currently plays Kayla Brady on Days of Our Lives, but that is just one part of who she is.
Evans has also appeared on a number of other shows over the years, including Law & Order: SVU, Monk, Body of Proof, and Nip/Tuck. From the soap role she almost took to all her Emmy Awards, here are five fast facts about the Days of Our Lives actress.
In The Beginning
Evans was born on March 7 in Pasadena, California and attended Huntington Beach High School. She got interested in acting as a teen and her sister had to drive her to acting classes. Following her high school graduation, Evans spent five months traveling around Europe. She came back to the States and joined the South Coast Repertory Conservatory.
Trading Life For the World
Evans initially agreed to play the recurring role of Paige Miller on One Life to Live, but she actually ended up turning it down because she was offered a contract role on As the World Turns as Sierra. The role of Paige went to actress Kimberlin Brown (Sheila, The Bold and the Beautiful) instead.
Accomplished Businesswoman
While also acting, Evans started her Mary Beth’s Apple Pie Company in 2005, which she created from a family recipe. The company worked with QVC and went on to sell thousands of pies. In fact, she also sold her pies on Williams Sonoma’s website.
Award-Winning
Evans has won seven Daytime Emmy Awards. She won her first in 2015 for Outstanding New Approaches Drama Series for her show, The Bay: The Series, of which she is a producer. She went on to win that one three more times. She was nominated in three categories in 2016 and won all three, including Outstanding Lead Actress for her role as Kayla on DAYS.
Getting Personal
Evans married her husband, cosmetic surgeon Michael Schwartz, on November 3, 1985. The couple has three children together, sons Danny and Matthew and a daughter Katie. Last year, Danny made her a first-time grandmother to Henry Herman Schwartz. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
