Kristian Alfonso was cast as ingenue Hope Williams on Days of Our Lives in 1983. Though she’s left the show at points to pursue other endeavors, she’s always returned to continue her iconic role.
Alfonso has also been on television shows such as Falcon Crest, Full House, Melrose Place, Baywatch, and MacGyver over the course of her career. From winning a gold medal to her passion outside of acting, here are five fast facts about the Days of Our Lives star.
In The Beginning
Alfonso was born on September 5 and raised in Brockton, Massachusetts. She is Italian-American, as her grandparents came to the USA from Italy. She graduated from Brockton High School and began working as a model before pursuing acting full-time.
Gold Medalist
Alfonso was an amazing figure skater growing up and she won a gold medal at the Junior Olympic Figure Skating Championships. But, due to a tobogganing accident at 13, her skating career was forced to come to an end.
Life Imitates Art
When Alfonso was marrying her first husband back in the ‘80s, she actually wore the same wedding dress that her Days of Our Lives character, Hope, wore to her wedding to Bo on the show.
Business Woman
Along with acting, Alfonso is passionate about jewelry. She had her own line called Faith Hope Miracles that she started in 2006 and sold 10 years later. A lot of her pieces featured her favorite designs, the Fleur de lis, and the Maltese cross. She always loved Fleur de lis and in fact, the DAYS set designers incorporated many into Hope’s home.
Getting Personal
Alfonso has been married twice. Her first marriage was to Simon Macauley from 1987 to 1991. They have a 28-year-old son together named Gino. She then went on to marry Danny Daggenhurst in 2001.
They have one child together, a son named Jack born in 2002. Alfonso is also the stepmom to Daggenhurst’s son, Spartan, from his previous marriage. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
