Eric Martsolf has been playing Brady Black on Days of Our Lives since 2008, but the actor has appeared on other shows over the years, including Passions, Smallville, and NCIS. Not only that, but Martsolf has also pursued musical theater since he was a young actor.
Though Martsolf has had a great career as an actor thus far, it hasn’t always been easy for him. From what he did in his early days to winning his Daytime Emmy, here are five fast facts about the Days of Our Lives actor.
In The Beginning
Martsolf was born on July 27 and raised in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He attended Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and graduated with a degree in political science. Though he wanted to study politics, he pursued musical theater on the side. In fact, he moved to New York City to pursue acting and music full-time.
Interesting Side Jobs
In order to support himself in his early days, Martsolf held a lot of interesting jobs. He was a cruise ship singer for a period of time and spent time traveling the world. He also worked at Dollywood and even performed as a singer and dancer at Hersheypark, an amusement park in Pennsylvania.
Passions Play
Martsolf landed the role of Ethan Winthrop on Passions in 2002 and stayed on the show until it was cancelled in 2008. While there, he worked with future DAYS castmates Galen Gering (Rafe) and built a strong friendship with Justin Hartley (This Is Us).
A Super Hero
Martsolf played a DC Comics superhero, Booster Gold, on one episode of Smallville back in 2011. The episode he was on was actually directed by Smallville star Tom Welling, and Martsolf has said it was one of the most fun jobs he’s ever had as an actor.
Award-Winning
Martsolf won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actor in 2011 thanks to his role as Brady on DAYS. He won the award on his first nomination, and it was the first time a DAYS cast member had won an Emmy for Supporting Actor! Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC.
