She was believed dead for the last three years on Days of Our Lives, but Stefano’s daughter, Kristen DiMera, is back with a vengeance.
The character first appeared in Salem back in 1993, when Eileen Davidson played her as Kristen Blake.
She was presumed dead but looks can be deceiving — as she proved (now in the form of Stacy Haiduk) when she shocked everyone at John (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena’s (Deidre Hall) wedding.
Her history is long but here are five fast facts that will help you to understand Salem’s newest (but previous) bad girl.
1. Dear John
Kristen Blake arrived in Salem and was immediately attacked by a mugger — but saved by John (natch).
This began their push-pull relationship but that got dicey when he was horrified to learn that she was Stefano’s adopted daughter. But when Stefano seemed to have died at John’s hands — well that put a crimp in their love story so she married Tony.
2. Hate Runs Deep
Kristen learned that John still loved Marlena, which caused her to become desperate to hang on to him — thus cementing Marlena as her sworn enemy, whether the good doctor knew about it or not.
This is when Kristen sort of snapped and stopped being the level-headed woman John had fallen in love with.
3. It’s Complicated
Kristen worked with John (who didn’t know his past but Stefano revealed he was a priest) to save Marlena from her bout with devil possession.
He decided to leave the priesthood and she wanted to annul her marriage to Tony so she could marry John in the Catholic Church. But again, she found out John loved Marlena more.
4. Buying Baby Elvis
Kristen was desperate to hang onto John so Stefano helped her pass off her look-alike Susan Banks’ baby as her own.
Marlena suspected that Kristen wasn’t really pregnant. John wanted to marry the mother of his child and Kristen had to sit by and do nothing as John married Susan (who was disguised as Kristen) as she was giving birth.
5. Sexual Predator
Determined to make Marlena pay for ruining her relationship with Brady (Eric Martsolf) years later, Kristen followed Father Eric (Greg Vaughan) to a hotel, drugged him, and videotaped herself raping him but she made it look like he was willing.
She dropped the plan when Brady took her back but at their wedding, Marlena inadvertently played the video, destroying that relationship.
