Five Fast Facts About Days of Our Lives Star Thia Megia

Late last year, Thia Megia made her debut as Haley Chen on Days of Our Lives — and the character presents quite the mystery.

She’s been revealed as Melinda Trask’s younger sister who has a lot of troubles, but luckily things are looking great for the actress.

So, even if Haley is a mystery, Soap Hub will do our best to make sure Megia isn’t. Check out these five facts about the actress playing the newest lady in JJ’s (Casey Moss) life.

1. In the Beginning
The beautiful actress was born in Hayward, California. Her parents are Cynthia and Loreto Megia, and they are originally from Angeles, Pampanga, Philippines. They emigrated to the United States in 1968 and changed their name from Mejia to Megia.

2. Getting Schooled
Megia attended Eden Gardens Elementary School in Hayward through the sixth grade. After that, she attended school online at California Virtual Academy, when she and her family moved to Mountain House, California.

3. Sing A Song
The young actress developed an interest in music at an early age and won singing competitions in San Jose and Saratoga.

She has sung the national anthem at San Jose Giants, Stanford football, and San Francisco 49ers games. She also appeared on the TV show Showtime at the Apollo as the Kid Star of Tomorrow in 2008 when she was 13.

4. Reality TV
In 2009, the budding singer appeared on the fourth season of America’s Got Talent, making it to the quarterfinals — but was cut in the Top 40 round. During that same year, Megia was invited to sing at the David Foster and Friends concert.

5. Becoming An Idol
It wasn’t too long before she auditioned for the 10th season of American Idol. Her audition took plaxe in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and she sang the Adele song, Chasing Pavements.

She lasted all the way to Top 11 but was then eliminated. However, she took part in the 2011 American Idols LIVE! Tour.
