Lauren Koslow.

Lauren Koslow currently stars as the wicked Kate Roberts on Days of Our Lives. However, Koslow has also appeared on other soaps, including The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful.

Along with her soap career, Koslow has guest-starred on shows such as The Nanny, Spies, and Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior. From where she grew up to her love of animals, here are five fast facts about the Days of Our Liv es actress.

In The Beginning

Koslow was born on March 9 and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. She grew up with her sister, Linda, and her brother, Donald. She attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst and then transferred to Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University. She graduated with a degree in theater and costume design.

Theater First

Following graduation, Koslow began working with a summer stock theater group in Virginia as a costume designer. Despite being hired as just a designer, Koslow was asked to audition for a role in Ten Little Indians, and she became a full-time actress in the group. She performed in regional shows that included Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Dial M For Murder.

First Regular TV Role

After moving out to Los Angeles and guest-starring on just one television show, Koslow met a producer from The Young and the Restless while in her acting class and was soon cast as Lindsay Wells. She moved on to The Bold and the Beautiful, where she played Margo Lynley.

Animal Lover

There’s no question Koslow is an animal lover. She and her family currently have three dogs, a cat, two bearded dragons, a spotted gecko, rats, horses, and chickens! In fact, she even has a bird that was gifted to her by Beverly Hills, 90210 star Tori Spelling. She’s just a few animals away from being able to open up her own zoo!

Getting Personal

Koslow has been married to makeup artist Nick Schilace since 1987, whom she met during her time on YR. The couple has two children, Zachariah and Milikate. Her son Zach actually played her BB character’s son, Mark, from 1988 to 1992.
