FALSE ALARM: Stefano Is NOT Alive!

It looks like Days of Our Lives is not resurrecting The Phoenix after all–which is a very good thing considering the legendary actor who played Stefano, Joseph Mascolo, passed away. Also, doing this story for the umpteenth time just wasn’t passing muster for anyone.

It turns out there’s a Stefano lookalike and even Anna DiMera (Leann Hunley) thinks he’s the real deal. She’s in Prague along with Marlena (Deidre Hall), Rafe (Galen Gering), and Paul (Christopher Sean) to try to kill him and avenge Tony’s death all these years later.

According to the January 16 issue of Soap Opera Digest, Marlena and Paul think they see Stefano, but then just miss him. We even see a man who could pass for The Phoenix, but is clearly not him.

Where does this leave Hope (Kristian Alfonso) now that the man she did kill is really dead? Well, it turns out she makes an escape, so she won’t be behind bars after all. But, that doesn’t mean she’s safe.

At least Stefano won’t come back to haunt her, and we say that’s a very good thing. So, thank goodness for small favors?
