It’s a week of heartbreak and hope for Chad and Abigail as the couple finalize their divorce, then end up back in each other’s arms professing their love and sharing a passionate kiss on Days of Our Lives (DOOL).
Actress Marci Miller (Abigail) talks exclusively with Soap Hub about it.
It’s Over
“The divorce isn’t what Abby really wants,” insists Miller, noting that her character “hates” receiving word that her marriage is a done deal.
“Getting that official final notice means there’s no more hope [for a reconciliation with Chad] and their marriage is truly over,” continues Miller. “It’s real, and there’s no pretending.
“Abigail has to face that for the first time. It also means her marriage to Dario [Jordi Vilasuso] gets set in motion, and she hates that, too. But she feels like it’s the responsible thing to do.”
Having no choice but to accept things and move on, Abigail attends the re-opening of the Martin House, later in the week.
Moving On… Begrudgingly
“She’s not thrilled about going because she goes with Dario and has to begin the process of selling to the rest of the town that they are in love with each other, when she’s really just marrying him because she’s being dutiful to her friend,” explains Miller.
“She’s not looking forward to that, and she expects Chad [Billy Flynn] and Gabi [Camila Banus] will be there. Abby has already walked in and seen them kissing. She knows that they’re together right now, and she has to face that, too.”
Tension in the Air
At the party, Abigail and Dario do encounter Chad and Gabi, and… things get… awkward.
“There’s this moment where all four of them are there,” shares Miller. “Abby is mingling with other people. She’s having conversations, but she’s very distracted by Chad being there.
“She’s hyper aware of him the entire time, and there are a couple of glances across the room at each other. She wants to be with Chad.
“She wants to talk to him. She wants to know what happened on the island, because she cares about him and his well-being. She loves him and wants to connect with him, but that just can’t happen.”

Drugged by Deimos
Yet, it does, courtesy of Deimos (Vincent Irizarry) of all people. He crashes the party disguised as a waiter, determined to steal the amulet from Sonny (Freddie Smith) and punish his many enemies by spiking their drinks with Halo.
The drug hits the partiers hard, revving up amorous feelings between Gabi and JJ, Lani and Eli, and Chad and Abigail.
“Abby starts to feel the effects of the Halo first,” explains Miller. “She approaches Chad and Gabi and starts speaking some truths and acting unlike herself. She’s seeming a little drunk and not feeling well. After she says a few things that are a little bit out there, she walks away.”
Chad, who’s worried about his ex, decides to check on her. He finds Abigail upstairs in a bedroom at the Martin House and tries to take care of her. Then, he begins feeling the effects of the drug, too.
Feeling the Love
Alone in the room with just each other, Chad and Abigail “start going to another place in their minds,” says Miller. “All of sudden they’re feeling like they’re in love and as if nothing has happened between them.
“They go all the way back to their vow renewal [ceremony]. The whole room kind of fades away, and they’re there in the [DiMera] living room exchanging their vows.”
The profession of love and return to that special moment leads to a passionate kiss between the couple. “It’s a little bit of foreshadowing and you see an honest moment between these two people,” previews Miller.
“You see that the love is still there between them, probably more than it’s ever been.”
But how far do things go between them after that? And will they remember any of what happened, when the effects of the drug wear off? Viewers will have to tune in to find out.
