Exclusive Interview: Chrishell Stause On DWTS Pros And Soaps

Plenty of Dancing With the Stars pros have waltzed their way onto daytime soaps in the past, courtesy of their star partners. Now, soap vet Chrishell Stause, who last played Jordan on Days of our Lives and Bethany on The Young and the Restless, weighs in on pro partner Gleb Savchenko’s soap star potential!

Chrishell Stause Has Casting Ideas

“Gleb would be a natural on a soap,” Stause tells Soap Hub. The Season 29 DWTS competitor notes that her dance teacher has the ability to perform on stage and that would translate to the TV screen. “He’s having to feel this music and interpret choreography, which is a huge part [of bringing a character to life]. I think he’d be a natural.”

Dance pros who’ve appeared on daytime include Tony Dovolani who, in 2008, played a man with a broken leg on All My Children in a scene with his celeb partner Susan Lucci (Erica). Maks Chmerkovkisy played Anton Ivanov on General Hospital, who danced with Kelly Monaco’s Sam at the Nurses Ball in 2013.

Savchenko’s open to the idea of dropping into daytime, but he says first “I’d have to fix my Russian accent.”

“No, that’s part of your character,” Chrishell Stause insists. “Any show would be lucky to have him — 100%. Cast him now! He’d be a shoo-in for ratings.”

Given his Russian accent, perhaps Savchenko could play a long-lost Cassadine on General Hospital. Currently, he and Stause are preparing to do their second dance, a rumba, in week two of the reality dance competition series.

In the Season 29 opener, they danced the tango, earning remarks that were both positive and constructive from the judges. “Okay hair, makeup, spray tan-CHECK!” Stause posted on Instagram prior to her Dancing With the Stars debut. “I am SO nervous and excited. I put in the work, I know the steps. I am begging my nerves not to make my body betray what I have learned!”

For their debut, Stause and Savchenko earned 13 points, but the pair hope to come back stronger on Monday. Check local listings for air times. Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
