It has been a twisted tale of multiple personalities for Abigail on Days of Our Lives (DOOL), but did one of them go too far today?
Perhaps spurred on by Stefan’s (Tyler Christopher) inquiry as to why she didn’t take advantage of her time on the stand to fry Gabi (Camila Banus) or perhaps something else, Dr. Laura (Marci Miller) arranged for herself to be put back on the stand — and then lied her butt off to make Gabi look guilty of killing Andre (Thaao Penglis)!
This seemed rather out of character for the good doctor side of Abigail’s triangle of personalities. Dr. Laura is supposed to control the transitions, not do out and out harm to someone Abby supposedly loves — her best friend. It’s not like she wanted to please Stefan — that would be the Gabigail personality. So what gives?
None of this is to say that actress Marci Miller isn’t killing it with her challenge to create three different personalities.
Rather, it’s more the writing that leaves one doing some head scratching.
Of course, if you know anything about DID or dissociative identity disorder, the shock of killing someone isn’t how it manifests.

Science has pretty much determined that the personality splits like that to protect the original personality from sexual abuse, usually at very early age.
Take the original DAYS character suffering from DID, Kimberly Brady (Patsy Pease). As part of that story, it was revealed that Kim was molested by her Uncle Eric Brady as a child.
While Abigail has a history of mental illness, she doesn’t have one of sexual abuse (that we know of). If only the DAYS writers had done as much research on the subject as Stefan.
Of course, soap fans are used to glossing over “reality” in return for incredible story and performances.
Miller is certainly delivering on her end. Here’s hoping the writers do too and tell us something about Abigail we might not already know.
