It’s the holiday season, and Days Of Our Lives wants all their couples to be happy! Well, not Ciara (Victoria Konefal) and Tripp (Lucas Adams), who just broke up. Or Val (Vanessa Williams) and Abe (James Reynolds), who sure seem headed that way.
Or Steve (Stephan Nichols) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans), who are in different locations. OK, so most Salem couples aren’t happily every aftering at the moment. But, at least there’s Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and Rafe (Galen Garing)! They’re happy and united and going strong!
But is happy and united and going strong… dull? What almost 12,000 had to say about the couple:
Wake Me Up When It’s Over
Zzzz, a landslide 91% of you are snoring loudly to make a point. Have Hope and Rafe done ANYTHING interesting lately? They’ve been tormenting Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) in the name of protecting Ciara. But that’s not exactly romantic. They’ve been squabbling about legal procedure. Ditto.
It is nice how Rafe adores Hope and sticks by her, even when her family – i.e. Abigail (Kate Mansi again next week) – makes accusations against his – i.e. Gabi (Camilla Banus). But nice isn’t hot. They might as well be friends, not lovers. DAYS once had a whole hit song about that!
Slow and Steady Wins the Race
For 8%, though, happy and united and going strong isn’t boring, it’s secure. And that can be romantic in its own way. Sure, getting spirited away from your wedding on a motorcycle, and finding crystals at an ice show, and cruises of deception are exciting.
They do get your heart pounding. But, who wants a relationship of constant danger? Hope doesn’t have to fear for her life when she’s with Rafe. That’s something to be appreciated and cherished. Not dismissed as dull.
