It’s not just Days of Our Lives fans who want to see Stephen Nichols back on the show soon: Drake Hogestyn shared a sweet message to show he also misses his longtime co-star.
As soap viewers, we’ve been conditioned to always think about soap characters as part of a couple, but that’s hardly the only relationship that they have on a show.
There’s family — parents as well as children. But there’s also the workplace — and some of those relationships can mirror what the actors have off-screen.
Such is the case with that detective agency, Black Patch. John (Drake Hogestyn) and Steve (Stephen Nichols) are best friends and have worked together for years.
Off-screen, Hogestyn and Nichols have worked together for decades, dating back to the first days of John Black’s entrance into Salem when Steve kidnapped him, so it’s not a shock to think that Hogestyn would also be affected by Nichols’ exit from the soap.
The actor shared his sadness of missing his co-star with his followers on Twitter when he said, “@officialnichols Gonna miss my buddy. Godspeed, but hurry home Partner. @nbcdays”
Nichols saw the tweet and responded in kind by saying, “Thanks, Drake. I have been missing you too, partner! Keep doing the good work you were doing when I left. You are a true inspiration. #days @nbcdays”
It’s a safe bet to say that fans are rooting for these two to be reunited. Nichols just had his final airdate last Friday and it’s sad to think John won’t have his best friend by his side as he goes through the emotional rollercoaster with Marlena (Deidre Hall) as she tries to survive being shot.
While the door has been left open for a return by Nichols (meaning, Steve is very much alive), as of now, he hasn’t been given any information from the show about a possible return.
Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
