When Days of Our Lives’ Julie gave Doug Club TBD as a reborn Doug’s Place on the Lake (okay, maybe this one is not on the lake, but let us be nostalgic here for a moment), we saw his reaction inside and it might have felt like something was missing–because it was.
According to DAYS writer Sheri Anderson, the scene outside the old Club TBD and the new Doug’s Place ended up on the proverbial cutting room floor.
While Doug (Bill Hayes) was enjoying retirement, he is thrilled to re-enter his nightclub days of DAYS. And sadly, we did not get to see his shock and awe when Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) unveiled the club’s new sign.
Doug’s Place was a Salem mainstay from 1972 until 1984, when it was renamed Blondie’s. Liz Chandler (Gloria Loring) took over the club, and Blondie was the name given to her by husband, Dr. Neil Curtis (Joe Gallison).
The new writing regime at DAYS is truly bringing back memories for longtime fans, reaching as far back as 45 years to make Salem feel like home again.
While we don’t have video of the scene, we have a still in the tweet below.
