Life has not been easy for Claire from the start on Days of our Lives. Sure, she had the usual paternity puzzle at birth. But that’s practically every Salem kid. And, yeah, there were kidnappings and beloved family members coming and going from the dead. So far, par for the course.
Where things really went south for Claire was where she went completely psycho and tried to set Ciara (Victoria Konefal) on fire, as well as kill Haley (Thia Megia). Claire (Isabel Durant) was carted off to the looney bin. She returned all better. And promptly commenced dating a guy we all suspected – and now know – is a rapist. Do fans feel sorry for Brady girl? Here’s what almost 2,000 said:
A winning 68% just cannot believe all of Claire’s bad luck. Sure, she was responsible for the messes with Ciara and Ben (Robert Scott Wilson), and Haley and Tripp (Lucas Adams), but she definitely isn’t to blame for this. Charlie (Mike Manning) seemed perfectly normal – well, to anyone who’d never watched a soap before, which we presume Claire hasn’t. How is it her fault that he turned out to have a dark side?
And then there are the 32% who seem to think Claire brought this upon herself. Um… how? By talking to a guy who seemed nice? By not asking him if he happened to have sex with Allie (Lindsay Arnold) while she was passed out drunk and so couldn’t give consent? Is that a normal question to ask on a first date? Or even a third one?
Maybe Claire should have better instincts and not want everything to turn into romance. Sometimes it’s okay to make it in life without a guy. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
