Stephen Nichols recently took to social media to pay tribute to a late friend, who was also a devoted supporter of the actor’s work as Steve on Days of our Lives. Read on for the touching testimonial.
“I lost a dear friend of 35 years yesterday,” Nichols began his Instagram post, which can be seen below. “Kathy Jarvis was the most joyful human being I have ever known. She loved life. Her favorite holidays were Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day.
“From the day our daughter @dyllanmusic was born, to this, Kathy has never missed a birthday or a Christmas,” Nichols continued. “She considered Dylan her first grandchild. Kathy loved traveling from Springfield, IL. to as many fan events as possible to see her many friends and her favorite actors. I count myself blessed to have been touched by her spirit and her love.
“I am heartbroken,” Nichols said. “Kathy, my beautiful friend, thank you for our time together and for your love and generosity. I Love you always. Love to Kristy, Kim, Gary, and your sweet grandchildren.”
“Oh, how she loved you,” posted DAYS viewer Kathie Gunn. “She was a great lady. Her passing is so very sad. This is a beautiful tribute to her.” Added DAYS devotee Kayla Sheaffer of Jarvis, “With her kindness and humor, her smile, and talent [Kathy] not only managed to make a world full of fan friends but actor friends who knew they could trust and count on her with anything. Kathy became the photographer and friend to many actors as she showed that her support wasn’t about being an obsessive but she help legitimize the relationship from actor to fan to human to human.”
“So so sad to hear [of Kathy’s passing]! She was a doll,” posted Mary Beth Evans (Kayla), adding six heart emojis to convey her love for Jarvis. “What a beautiful lady- Thank you for sharing about her life Stephen,” wrote Matthew Ashford (Jack). Soap Hub sends condolences to Jarvis’s family and loved ones at this difficult time. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
