It’s a very special day for former Days of Our Lives (DOOL) star Peter Reckell, and the talented actor has a lot to celebrate.
That is because he was born May 7, 1955 in Elkhart, Indiana — which means he is turning 63 years old today! He’s been married to his second wife, Kelly Moneymaker, since April 18, 1998, and they have one daughter together, Loden. He was previously married to actress/singer, Dale Kristien.
Reckell attended the Boston Conservatory, a very musical prestigious school where he received a bachelor of fine arts in theater and he also had a minor in music and dance.
In 1983, he was cast as Bo Brady, Roman’s younger brother who was there to cause him nothing but trouble — and fall in love with Hope (Kristian Alfonso).
But before his iconic role on DAYS, Reckell’s first soap opera appearance was as Eric on As the World Turns, opposite Dana Delany (of Desperate Housewives and China Beach fame) who played Hayley. He would later play scoundrel Johnny, opposite Nicolette Sheridan’s Paige, on Knots Landing.
Reckell also appeared in many primetime shows, including Facts of Life, Baywatch, and 30 Rock, in addition to TV movies like Heavenly Road, Locked Up: A Mother’s Rage, and Shades of Love: Moonlight Flight. He also performed on stage.
The actor recently celebrated the 35th anniversary of the day he started on DAYS. Fans continue to clamor for his return to Salem to this day, despite having left the show in 2015.
While Hope has tried to move on, it’s safe to say that pretty much any man will have to deal with being in his shadow. The character and actor are so beloved by viewers.
