She created the role of Kimberly Brady Donovan 34 years ago on Days of Our Lives, and now Patsy Pease is celebrating a very special day!
The talented actress was born on July 5, 1956 in Charlotte, North Carolina, which means that she’s turning 62 years old.
Pease earned her degree at The University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston Salem N.C., where she studied and taught jazz dance. She was awarded a theater scholarship for her junior and senior years.
From there, Pease headed to New York City, where she appeared in the 1979 cult film He Knows You’re Alone, which was directed by Armand Mastroianni. Soon after that came a role on Search For Tomorrow as the country western vixen, Cissie Mitchell. She played that role from 1979 to 1982.
From there, she appeared in Roger Corman’s Space Raiders before joining DAYS in 1984, creating the role of the former hooker with a heart of gold, Kimberly Brady. Her storyline with Charles Shaughnessy’s Shane was a love story that captured the hearts of fans, catapulting them into supercouple status.
Years later, Pease revealed in a blog entry that she was diagnosed as bipolar. The actress spoke with Soap Hub about it previously, sharing what it’s meant to her to be able to help others.
“I feel that the proper use of the platform of celebrity should be social service. It can’t be a self-serving platform. Also, it redeems any kind of affliction that I might have, and it transforms pain to grace.
“So any complaint I may have had about why do I have this affliction and living with bipolar — it’s ‘why not?’ Instead of why me, it’s why not me? Because, if I’m going to have it, then let it be useful to serve someone else who may not know what it’s like, or may not know how to help someone they love.”
