Stephen Nichols has taken on the guise of the Phoenix, but there’s someone else who’s doing his own version of a Phoenix on Days of Our Lives and his return may be tied to the show’s ‘time jump’ storyline.
George DelHoyo Resurrects Orpheus Again
According to Soaps.com, George DelHoyo is resurrecting Orpheus. He last appeared on the show in 2016. The character began his run of villainy back in 1986 as a man who wanted revenge against Roman (aka John, Drake Hogestyn). He kidnapped Marlena (Deidre Hall). She escaped only to presumably perish in a plane crash.
Orpheus returned to the show nearly three decades later as part of a storyline in which Orpheus, Xander (Paul Telfer), and Clyde (James Read) terrorized Salem. Orpheus presumably met his maker when he died in a struggle with Steve (Stephen Nichols), but now he is somehow making his way back onto the show’s story canvas.
He’s set to appear on-screen the week on Wednesday, January 22 around the time that the show will be filling in some blanks that were left open in light of the show’s time jump storyline.
A Theater And TV Pro
DelHoyo has extensive experience in the theater, having performed at many major theaters, including Seattle Repertory, Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, and Huntington Theatre in Boston. In the late 1970s, he moved to Los Angeles where he became a contract player for Universal Studios.
In addition to DAYS, his daytime credits include the part of Rob Donnelly on Generations. Other shows he’s appeared on include St. Elsewhere, L.A. Law, Beverly Hills 90210, Home Improvement, Cheers, and Frasier.
It’s not unusual for characters on DAYS to return from the dead. In 2004, nearly half the cast was resurrected after being murdered by the Salem Serial Killer! How will DAYS pull off Orpheus’ return? Tune in to find out! Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check local listings for air times.
