The news spread far and wide across the entertainment industry yesterday that Days of Our Lives is in danger of cancelation and that all the soap’s actors have been fired. The problem is, that’s just not true.

DAYS is renewed on a year-to-year basis, usually around February or a little before, but the show has also taped quite a few months in advance for the last several years. Word is there are shows ready to air through the first half of 2020 (a year that Salem residents are already living), so the soap’s hiatus may be a little longer than usual.

TV Line reported that all DAYS actors will be taken off contract for the hiatus. DAYS has not confirmed this, but if this does happen, they can just be renegotiated after the hiatus and after the show has been renewed by Sony Pictures Television. Renewal negotiations are said to be currently happening.

As for the actors themselves, they took to social media yesterday to assure fans that Days of Our Lives is not going anywhere and they are even still working and playing their Salem parts. Camila Banus (Gabi) went so far as to call the reports “fake news.”

The mood at the annual Day of DAYS event was upbeat this past weekend and actors, producers, and writers all seemed upbeat about the future of the soap.

The new and innovative time jump story has people tuning in and talking and the videos below will show there is no reason to write off this classic soap that just celebrated its 54th anniversary last Friday. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
