Even when favorite stars stop appearing on soaps, they can still stay in touch with their fans instantly via social media. Days of our Lives legend Peter Reckell has been off the grid for a bit in terms of Twitter, but that situation recently changed.
Peter Reckell Checks In
The actor’s last two tweets, in fact, were on Christmas Eve and Halloween of last year. Now, he’s letting his fans know he’s still an active member of the Twitter-verse with a message that will surely mean a lot to them.
“Okay, ran out of stuff to do around the house and thought it was long past time for me to check up on twitter,” the actor shared. “According to my profile I joined twitter 10 years ago. WOW, how time flies! Hope you are all being smart and Safe so this lock down can end.”
The environmentally-conscious actor shared in a follow-up tweet that he is getting some exercise in by bicycling and taking hikes with his family. “Lucky we can walk to the forest from the house and folks are being very respectful of each other,” he said.
Reckell joined DAYS in 1984 and his portrayal of rebellious Bo was an instant hit. He and leading lady Kristian Alfonso (Hope) became arguably daytime TV’s most successful and romantic super-couple.
For years, Bo and Hope shared romance, adventure, and intrigue. They set sail across the world with their son Shawn Douglas (Brandon Beemer). They returned for short runs and both were back on the show full-time in 1995.
Alas, Reckell left Salem in 2012, much to fans’ dismay. His return in 2015 for DAYS’ 50th anniversary was bittersweet. Bo was back in Salem and he reunited with Hope only to die in her arms from a brain tumor shortly thereafter. Might the actor ever return? There are no signs to indicate that’s going to happen, but it’s a return that DAYS fans would certainly embrace.
In the meantime, Reckell’s staying in touch with his supporters via Twitter means so much. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
