Drake Hogestyn loved baseball and was on his way to becoming a pro. However, he intended to become a doctor if his career as a pro baseball player didn’t work out. Since he was a gifted athlete, scholarships paid for his college education. He graduated with a double major in microbiology and applied sciences from the University of South Florida. He ended up getting drafted by a Yankee farm team, but a career-ending injury sent him on a different path. He had success in primetime on Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and then in 1986, he brought John Black to life on Days of Our Lives.
