Linsey Godfrey is out as Sarah Horton on Days of our Lives. The casting news was confirmed by the actress herself after an online report announced it.

“It’s truly been a pleasure,” shared Godfrey on Twitter. A massive thank you to @nbcdays for the opportunity to play Sarah & all 86 of her hairstyles. Thank you to casting, production and the crew! Also thank you to the amazing cast I got to work with! I have made some lifelong friends that I cherish.”

Godfrey joined DAYS in the fall of 2018 as Sarah, the daughter of Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) and Neil Curtis (Joe Gallison). (As veteran DAYS fans recall, Sarah was conceived via artificial insemination.)

The character was referred to every now and then, and in fact, when actress Kristi McDaniel joined the cast of DAYS as “Sarah” in 1995, many assumed that Maggie’s daughter was coming back to town, but this was a different character altogether. Sarah Horton remained absent from the canvas for decades until Godfrey was cast in the part. During her run on the show, Sarah was paired romantically with Rex (Kyle Lowder), Eric (Greg Vaughan), and, most significantly, Xander (Paul Telfer).

The Sarah/Xander pairing helped transform the Titan executive from villain to romantic leading man. Sarah broke things off with Xander after his role in giving her the baby of Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) came to light. The “Xarah” chemistry was undeniable, however, and soon, Sarah and Xander were back on.

Last year, Godfrey, passionate in her views, took time off from posting online. “I’m taking a social break to spend time with my family and friends, work on my personal relationships and most importantly taking time to focus myself and my mental health,” Godfrey shared. “In the meantime, keep up the good fight, stay loud and STAY WEIRD.” Recently, the actress returned to social media.

Godfrey first came to the attention of soap fans as Caroline on The Bold and the Beautiful in 2012, scoring three Daytime Emmy nominations (in 2014, 2015, and 2016) for her work on the half-hour soap. During her tenure, Caroline was both a comedienne and a conniver. She moved to New York with her son Douglas (Henry Joseph Samiri) so that she and Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) could raise the child together.

In 2019, Thomas came back to Los Angeles and revealed that Caroline had died suddenly (and off-camera…hmmm) of a blood clot. Godfrey also scored a nod for playing Sarah in 2019 in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

No word yet on whether this is just one of those instances of the show giving a character some time off to rotate in another story or not. There’s also no word on what this means for Paul Telfer, who plays Sarah’s love Xander. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
