Days of our Lives Star Judi Evans Opens Up About a Deep Personal Loss

 Comments

Days of our Lives star Judi Evans has been coming into the homes of soap fans for over 35 years! Now, fans of the actress can learn more about her real-life in an exclusive feature in which she opens up in a way she’s never done.

Judi Evans — A Survivor

Evans’ publicist and longtime friend Howie Simon recently shared on Instagram that Evans will appear on the cover of Woman’s World magazine. It’s not the first cover Simon has booked for Evans and his other clients on a cover and inside feature, but he says this one is special.

“Judi is not only a client,” Simon shares, “but a friend of also 30+ years. I first caught eye of her when I was a young 19-year-old freshman in college (1983) watching my favorite soap opera at the time (Guiding Light). It was love at first sight … or something like that! 😜 She stayed on that show (which was taped in NYC) until 1986 and left for Los Angeles to star in Days of our Lives.”

That was the same year that Simon graduated from college and moved to Los Angeles. The two eventually met and, he says, “a friendship and professional relationship blossomed.”

Simon previews that Evans addresses in her Woman’s World interview her son Michael’s passing in December of 2019. Shortly thereafter, Evans had to say goodbye to part of her professional life, too, when her DAYS character Adrienne died in a car crash. Fortunately, as fans of the NBC serial know, Evans continues to be part of the show as Adrienne’s doppelganger Bonnie.

“[Judi] spiraled into a depression and several months later into 2020, as the pandemic is raging, she was involved in a horse-riding accident that left her in a hospital with many broken bones,” Simon recounts. “While at the hospital recuperating, she contracted COVID-19 and nearly had her leg amputated from the blood clots.”

Don’t miss Evans’ Woman’s World issue, dated April 26, 2021, on sale starting Thursday, April 15! Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
