This Days of Our Lives Star Has An Incredible Story About An Incredible Dog

Trevor Donovan, who played Days of Our Lives Jeremy Horton, has worked non-stop since exiting Salem.

But the actor’s recent trip to Home & Family wasn’t all about promoting his next film. The fan favorite and pet advocate opened up about his beloved dog’s medical condition.

The actor has three dogs: Tito, Dogbert, and Shadow, who is the latest addition to his family. Dogbert suffers from a condition known as degenerative myelopathy, which has been described as a canine form of ALS.

Home & Family hosts Debbie Matenopoulos and Cameron Mathison (ex-Ryan, All My Children) recently interviewed Donovan about Dogbert, as well as the actor’s upcoming book inspired by his and his dog’s journey.

“There’s no pain involved,” Donovan reports about Dogbert. “As you can tell, he’s still handsome, with it and happy. Still, it’s a hard thing to watch.”

Sadly, the condition has caused Dogbert to lose the use of his hind legs. But he gets around like most any other dog courtesy of a device with wheels.

“We throw this thing on him and he cruises around the neighborhood. I have video of him chasing a coyote down the street, barking at him. He hasn’t lost his gusto. That’s for sure.”

Sadly, Donovan adds that Dogbert’s condition is degenerative. He’s documenting Dogbert’s life that he plans on publishing as a book.

“It’s sad, but it’s therapeutic,” the actor says. Watch for updates on the book Love Always, Tito and Dogbert on Donovan’s social media accounts.

Donovan can be seen next in the Hallmark Channel movie SnowComing, in which he plays Jake, a NFL quarterback, who crosses paths once more with Samantha (Lindy Booth), his high school sweetheart at a local winter festival.
