Days of Our Lives star Freddie Smith has suffered a great personal loss, but turned the tragedy into a message of hope.
Smith, who plays Sonny Kiriakis on DAYS, lost his aunt and took to Instagram to look forward to the future, and did so with an adorable photo of his niece, Mila.
“Our bright light during this sad time. Love this little girl SO much. Grandpa is looking over you always and your Uncle Freddie is always here for you! Can’t wait to see you navigate this world. Love you Mila.”
Fans and co-stars, including Stacy Haiduk (ex-Kristen/Susan), sent sympathy to the actor during this difficult time.
One fan wrote this poignant message.
“My condolences. I’ll share my favorite quote. ‘To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die.”
