Days of Our Lives star Eric Martsolf has more in common with Rob Lowe than chiseled good looks. Both men have two sons. And there may be more commonalities yet to come!
Eric Martsolf: Proud Pop
Lowe’s sons Edward Matthew Lowe and John Owen Lowe have appeared with their dad in the reality series The Lowe Files. And John Owen appeared on the short-lived series The Grinder alongside his pop. Might Martsolf’s twin sons Mason and Chase, who recently turned 14, follow in their father’s footsteps by getting involved in show business?
Actually, Mason already has. He has a role in the teen film To the Beat: Back 2 School in which Martsolf appears alongside Martha Madison (Belle). How’d that come about? “Susan Bernhardt produced [the movie],” Martsolf told TV Insider.
“Her daughter Jillian Clare, who used to play Abby [on DAYS], directed it. [Susan] called me up and said…’I saw some pictures of your son on social media. I want him to play the heartthrob to [Avery Hewitt] who plays your daughter…you know the guy from the ‘80s movies who has nothing to say, but just walks down the hall [in high school] in slow motion?'”
Martsolf loved his role as proud papa as he watched his son act on a film set. “I had the time of my life watching him,” Martsolf says. “He told me he’s not sure he can do this again. He said he was there for [a total of] nine hours and the movie is only 90 minutes long. I said, ‘Yes, it’s like cooking. It takes longer to make than it does to see.'”
Is Martsolf going to encourage his sons to pursue acting? “I’m not going to steer them away from or towards the business,” he philosophizes. “They’ll have to decide that for themselves. I just hope that they become brain surgeons and take care of me.” To the Beat: Back 2 School is available now on multiple platforms. Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC.
