Gabi Hernandez may be struggling with her burgeoning feelings for mortal enemy Stefan DiMera but actress Camila Banus certain has something to celebrate.
That’s because she was born on July 22, 1990, in Miami Beach, Florida, meaning that she is turning 29 years old today! Had it not been for her boundless childhood energy, Banus might not have made it to TV land. But her mother, desperate to find an outlet for her enthusiastic daughter found a talent agent who booked the six-year-old Banus her first gig.
Early on-camera roles for Banus included commercials and small parts in Spanish language telenovelas. While she was still in high school, Banus sent an audition tape to the New York-based soap opera One Life to Live who hired her to ply Lola Montez. Banus first appeared in October of 2008 and stayed until May of the next year.
But it is, of course, the role of scheming, love-to-hate her, Gabi Hernandez for which Banus is most known. She joined the California-based serial in 2010 as a replacement for actress Gabriela Rodriguez. Banus continued in the role until 2014 when Gabi was sent to prison for killing Nick Fallon.
In 2015, Banus appeared in the Lifetime movie Wishin’ and Hopin’ before making a return to DAYS. Since then, the actress has divided her time between working on the daytime soap and appearing on a number of primetime shows including Mistresses and Star.
Soap Hub would like to wish Banus a very happy birthday and you can too by clicking the twitter link below. Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
