Lucas may have his hands full with a rebellious teenage daughter but his portrayer, Bryan Dattilo, certainly has a reason to celebrate. That’s because he was born on July 29, 1971, in Kankakee, Illinois, meaning that he is turning 48 years old today!
It was a desire to “fit in” with his Beverly Hills classmates that caused Dattilo and his younger sister Kristen to enter into the acting world. The siblings were soon signed with by The Savage Agency and their first on-camera assignment was the fil The Adventures of Grizzly Adams.
Acting took a back seat while Dattilo pursued a college education and attended Santa Monica College where he graduated with a degree in psychology.
But any interest in furthering his education waned when Dattilo auditioned for the NBC daytime drama Days of Our Lives and won the role of Lucas Roberts.
Dattilo made his debut in April of 1993 and was immediately thrust into a front-burner story where we learned he was the secret love child of Bill Horton.
Lucas remained a vital character in the soap for the next eight years until Dattilo’s firing in 2001. The actor was rehired in 2002 and continued in the role until 2010 when he was again fired.
Dattilo was once again rehired and returned in 2012. Since then the actor has remained a recurring player. Aside from his daytime role Dattilo has also in appeared as a guest on a number of primetime series including CSI: New York, California Dreams, In the Heat of the Night, and Doogie Howser, M.D.
