With Greg Vaughan announcing that he’s leaving his role as Eric on Days of our Lives, let the games begin for fans wondering who will be stepping into his shoes. The criteria are that the new Eric Brady needs to be hot, soulful (for his ex-priest side), good with kids (since he always finds himself raising someone else’s), and has sizzling chemistry with Nicole (Arianne Zucker). The star-crossed couple just got married! Can’t have the fire going out of that relationship yet!
Days of our Lives — Original Recipe
Some fans who believe in the go big or go home mantra are suggesting Jensen Ackles. He was the first adult (OK, teen) Eric, and with Supernatural finishing up its phenomenally long run, dude’s going to need a job soon, right? Why not come home to Salem? We have a hot blonde waiting for you!
Gone But Not Forgotten
If fans think Jensen Ackles might not come back to reclaim his role, what about a former daytimer from another show who has since gone on to other mediums? Justin Hartley was on Passions and YR before This Is Us. Nathan Fillion was on OLTL before Firefly, Castle, and The Rookie.
How about Jason Biggs? He was on As the World Turns before getting up close and personal with an American Pie. Any of these sound like good Eric replacements to you? Let us know in the comments section below!
Daytime Emmy Nods
How about a Daytime Emmy winner (we’ll even settle for a nominee)? Among those currently without jobs who fit the criteria above are Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky, GH), Jeff Branson (ex-YR, GL, AMC), Billy Miller (ex-Drew, GH), David Lago (ex-Raul, YR), or Chad Brannon (ex-Zander, GH)?
This is a longshot, but what about Daniel Cosgrove (ex-GL, AMC, ATWT, and sure, DAYS, but Aiden was a dud, and don’t forget that Josh Taylor played both Chris and now Eric’s dad, Roman, so there’s precedent!)? Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
