Everybody’s got an opinion…especially where their favorite daytime drama is concerned – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the Days of Our Lives week that was.
When William Shakespeare initially penned the line “So tedious is this day” he must have seen this week’s worth of DAYS episodes…because boy were they tedious. To no one’s great surprise, Chloe’s (Nadia Bjorlin) plan to single-handedly protect Philip (Jay Kenneth Johnson) from the mob wasn’t without its hitches – and poor Brady (Eric Martsolf) very nearly became the sacrificial lamb.
A fit to be tied Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) was, of course, able to make her way to her lover’s bedside, despite the whole complication of being in prison – because if Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal) can escort a hostage and a gun INSIDE Statesville, Kristen can escort likewise out.
Question: What is the preoccupation with this soap and imprisoning a person in a cage, as Ciara is being held now? It’s happened to Marlena (Deidre Hall), it’s happened to Hope (Kristian Alfonso), and Shawn (Brandon Beemer) – twice! – and Nicole (Arianne Zucker). Do they just have a mess of cages that they need to give screen time to?
Anyway…Allie (Lindsay Arnold) FINALLY submitted to hypnotherapy and FINALLY realized that everything that Tripp (Lucas Adams) has been saying for the past few months was the God’s honest truth.
Charlie (Mike Manning) learned that the jig was up, but what he doesn’t know, and that the audience does, is that his arrest is honestly futile. The London authorities didn’t want to prosecute the case when Tripp was the prime suspect, and you can be sure that they don’t want to prosecute it now that it has gotten even more muddled.
And then there was Abigail (Marci Miller), who spent time listening to Anna’s (Leann Hunley) antiquated relationship device and punching the hell out of a gloating Gwen (Emily O’Brien). Okay, the last part wasn’t exactly tedious…but one long-in-coming sock to the kisser does not an interesting week make.
Another highlight of an otherwise dismal week: Gwen and Charlie calling to order the first of what we can only pray will be very frequent meetings of the “we have issues with our parents’ club.” No, their little tete-a-tete didn’t make us feel sorry for them. Not in the least. But it sure was entertaining to see a coming together of two such devious minds. Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
