Days of Our Lives: Soap Hub’s Daytime Week In Review

Everybody’s got an opinion…especially when our favorite daytime drama is concerned – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer a handy review and a cheeky critique of the Days of Our Lives week that was.

It’s not every day a talented younger actor like Mike Manning comes along, so why sully his character by having Charlie be Allie’s (Lindsay Arnold) rapist? It wasn’t a clever story point. No one was the least bit surprised by the revelation. And now DAYS is going to have to say goodbye to one of best and brightest sooner rather than later.

But at least Charlie is poised to go out with a bang. The question is, how exactly will he be disposed of? A stint in prison? A who dun it style murder mystery? Or will he simply be redeemed and not go out at all?

And speaking of questions, there’s a big one hovering over a certain British import who just had her employment terminated. Why oh why has Gwen (Emily O’Brien) done the things that she has? Why did she infiltrate the DiMera stronghold? And what is her beef with Abigail (Marci Miller), the woman whom she’s drugged and the woman whose husband she conned into bed?

Soap Hub is ready for some answers. This storyline has been good fun and all, but it’s time for Gwen to lay it all out on the line. The longer it takes to learn her motives the more we begin to lose interest. It’s entertaining to watch a villain toy with their prey, but you wanna be let in on their motivation all the same.

Here’s hoping that an explanation for this, as well as one for why in the world Dr. Raynor (Victoria Platt) would kidnap the Grant twins, is forthcoming.

Boy, Judi Evans was REALLY playing up that southern accent during Bonnie’s interplay with Philip and Dr. Raynor huh? Think that was a personal choice or suggestion from the producer?

Are there really only two doctors in the entirety of University Hospital who could look after the drug-addled Ava (Tamara Braun)? Did it really come down to some never seen, uber-busy physician and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans)?

And speaking of Kayla, why in God’s name did she not run a PATERNITY test on Henry Lucas rather than a test that would merely determine if there was some kind of familial link between Tripp and the baby?

Does anyone else suspect that Lani’s cute admonishment to Eli (Lamon Archey) concerning his giving of “complicated gifts,” was just an ad lib tossed out by Sal Stowers as she struggled to open the locket prop? Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
