The Days of our Lives recap for January 18-22, 2021, features a number of truths being revealed, an unearned promotion, and an offer of sanctuary extended.
After ensuring that the whole town learned of her affair with Chad (Billy Flynn) via an exclusive tell-all with the local tabloid, Gwen (Emily O’Brien) finally shared with Jack (Matthew Ashford) and Jennifer (Cady McClain) the reason for her vendetta – she’s Jack’s daughter!
They stood in abject silence as Gwen recounted a poverty-stricken upbringing, including a stint in a London orphanage (hence the accent), and a claim that Jack had made payments to her mother in order to buy her silence.
The last charge was denied, though Jack couldn’t swear for sure whether or not Gwen was his daughter. He did sleep with quite a few women during the years he spent in Chicago, prior to moving to Salem.
Meanwhile, Abigail (Marci Miller) learned about her half-sister, courtesy of Chad, who also revealed that it had been Gwen who had drugged Abby with that hallucinogenic – way to come through for the DiMera family Rolf (William Utay). Better late than never.
With the damage wrought by Gwen’s exposé, Chad had no choice but to step down as CEO of DiMera Enterprises. And rather than appointing Tony (Thaao Penghlis) to the position, the board decided to recruit Jake (Brandon Barash), much to everyone’s dismay.
Upon learning of her ex’s new gig, Gabi (Camila Banus) made a beeline for his office, attempted to convince him to reopen Gabi Chic, and tried to entice him back into her arms. Kate (Lauren Koslow) interrupted the scene, leading Jake to order Gabi out and insist that he had no romantic feelings for her whatsoever.
Rafe (Galen Gering) explained to a distraught Allie (Lindsay Arnold) that the only way to ensure Charlie (Mike Manning) answer for her attack was if she remembered the night in question.
Nicole (Arianne Zucker) and Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) both suggested that she undergo hypnosis, and after much debate, Allie decided that she would. Paging Dr. Evans…
Xander (Paul Telfer) was briefly put in the frame for the kidnapping of the Grant twins, but Lani (Sal Stower) and Eli (Lamon Archey) soon realized their error. However, after much prodding from Sarah (Linsey Godfrey), Xander agreed to help the parents track down Amanda Raynor (Victoria Platt), his former partner-in-crime.
Rather than let a panicked Philip (Jay Kenneth Johnson) take off for parts unknown, Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) decided to take it upon herself to shelter him. Brady (Eric Martsolf) thought it was a bad idea. And, truth be told, so did Philip and Chloe.
But Philip wanted to stick it to Brady, Chloe’s safety be damned, and Chloe didn’t want to give Brady the satisfaction of being right. Days of our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
