The Days of Our Lives recap for March 30-April 3, 2020, features a particularly frightening take on classic children’s literature.
Only in Salem, USA is the explanation “He ran into the wrong end of my stiletto” an acceptable one. It’s also one of the only places in the world where fairy tales can so easily devolve into horror stories.
Take the fantastical goings-on at Maison Blanche for example. John Black (Drake Hogestyn) and Brady (Eric Martsolf), two figurative knights in shining armor, arrive to save their distressed damsels only to be bludgeoned into unconsciousness and shot in the shoulder respectively.
And when the big bad villain of the story was finally subdued it was through an act of bloody violence – think less Bambi and more Single White Female.
Then there’s the tale of Baby Mickey. This wee one was born to two loving parents but later found herself substituted for another by a pair of well-meaning but still pretty vile ogres.
Enter Nicole (Arianne Zucker), who’s made it her life’s mission to unravel this sordid saga. And now that she’s armed with the knowledge that the child actually belongs to Brady and Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) what exactly does she intend to do with it?
Can she actually bring herself to rip Baby Mickey away from a pair of loving guardians who seem like they came right out of a storybook and simply hand her over to a woman whose past misdeeds would make even the Evil Queen blush?
What type of employment do we really expect Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) to find? There probably aren’t a lot of business chomping at the bit to hire a convicted serial murderer. Perhaps he makes a beeline for the Horton Center and sees what they could offer him in way of placement.
Anna: “I didn’t aim for his eye. My God, Steve Johnson seems cursed with that eye.” He certainly does. Said eye was initially blinded thanks to a pocket knife-wielding Bo Brady. Then, a glass eye fitted into the socket was damaged during a scuffle with Victor Kiriakis’ goons. And of course, most recently, the bionic implant he received was hijacked by criminals unknown and used for treasonous purposes.
Brady: “You’ve never treated me like anything other than a son. You’re my mom, and I love you.” Marlena: “I love you too.” It’s tender moments like this that make the preceding farce more palpable. Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
